May Breeze Woodland Phlox heralds spring with sweetly fragrant bright white flowers. As the flowers age, they are sometimes washed with light lavender or blue, giving them a lustrous glow. This compact perennial is a perfect groundcover for spring-blooming bulbs. It will fill in spaces in the garden where late-sprouting perennials take their time to emerge. When flowering is done, the lance-shaped deep green foliage will maintain an attractive texture. Woodland Phlox will spread over time, creating a lovely floral carpet. Native to Eastern North America, it prefers part shade with moist, well-drained soil. Once established it is quite drought-tolerant and deer-resistant. Cut back after the first bloom to encourage a second bloom, and will discourage pests such as spider mites or powdery mildew.
